NAGAON, July 15: Local units of almost five organizations of the greater Raha area, like Raha Anchalik Tiwa Students’ Union, Krishak Sramik Unnayan Parishad, Raha Anchalik Manav Adhukar Sangram Samittee and Raha Anchalik Praktan Ulfa Aikya Mancha, on Sunday gave a deadline to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Nagaon district administration as well as the Assam government.

The organizations warned that if the government and NHAI failed to fulfil their demands within a month or did not close down the Raha toll plaza before completion of the entire four-lane project, the organizations would launch a massive movement against the NHAI as well as the State government on August 15.

In a press conference held at Raha on Sunday, the representatives of the organizations demanded completion of the four-lane project soon and immediate repair of the NH-37 road from Dimou Chariali towards Raha Chariali. Similarly, the organizations also demanded immediate construction of drainage system across the road. On the other hand, the organizations demanded essential facilities like better sanitation, better parking and rest house at Raha toll plaza.
