Organizations jointly demand repair of roads

Bongaigaon, August 1: Several organizations submitted memoranda to the Chief Workshop Mager of New Bongaigaon Railway workshop on Monday to demand repair of roads under the Railway department.

The organizations are North East Frontier Railway Mazdoor Union, Purbanchaliya Rail Karmi Parishad, OBC Organization and SC/ST Organization. Pabitra Barman, secretary of NFRMU, New Bongaigaon workshop branch, said that two main roads - one from New Bongaigaon to Dangtol and one from tunpara to Dangtol via workshop – are in a deplorable condition since long.

“This happened due to non-maintence and non-repair of the roads. We have made several appeals to the Railway authority for repairing the roads but have not received any fruitful result. This matter has been raised with the officer concerned of Rangiya division of NF Railway but yet nothing was done. Due to the poor condition of the roads, commercial vehicles are not carrying passengers nowadays. So, we now jointly appeal to the CWM of New Bongaigaon workshop to look into the matter as these roads are mostly used by employees of New Bongaigaon workshop and their families. Else, we will have to decide the next course of action,” he said.
