Orient Award 2020 announced for the year 2020 in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The prestigious Orient Award for the year 2020 has been conferred on Prabhat Chandra Gogoi - a prominent educationist and highly successful academic administrator of Assam. This award is given by the trust of Orient Flower Junior College, Biswanath Chariali to persons of the State as a recognition for their exemplary contribution to the society in different fields.

PC Gogoi played a pivotal role in the growth and development of Biswanath College, Biswanath College of Education and many other educational institutions in and around Biswanath Chariali. He dedicated his entire life to build these institutions from the nascent stage. PC Gogoi retired as the Principal of Biswanath College, thereafter he also served as the Principal of Biswanath College of Education. He then held the office of the chairman of the governing bodies of both these institutes. He also played a pioneering role in the growth of many other institutes of the area. He published textbooks during his service period in education which were widely used by the students, besides participating in many national and international seminars and conferences.

The announcement of the award was recently made in a virtual programme of the college by Bhupen Dadhara, the Academic Administrator of the college. He also informed that, keeping the age of PC Gogoi in mind, the Orient Flower Junior College authority had decided to hand over the award and the citation to him only after the COVID-19 pandemic situation improved. This award was given to Indra Prasad Saikia, a noted litterateur of the State, in 2019.
