Guwahati: The Foreigners Tribunals (FTs) has declared over one lakh people as illegal foreigners in Assam as on October 31, 2021, Atul Bora informed the Assembly on Thursday.

He apprised the Assembly of the same during the ongoing winter session of the Assam Assembly.

"After 1971, at least 1, 10, 794 were found to have entered the state. Altogether 328 foreigners have been handed over to Bangladesh between October 13, 2013 and December 15 this year. Out of them 320 were accused as foreigners while eight were declared foreigners," Assam Accord Implementation Minister Atul Bora, in a written reply to a question by Leader of Opposition Parties (LoP) Debabrata Saikia.

As per the the Foreigners Act, 1946 and the Foreigners (Tribunals) Order, 1964, all Foreigners Tribunals in Assam were constituted.
