Over 20 thousand people attended the 17th general convention in Duliajan, Assam

Duliajan: Today is day three of the 17th general convention of the All Assam Student Union (AASU) being held in Duliajan.

The event was held in Salakati's public playground in Duliajan, Assam.

Cultural processions and participation of AASU leaders and workers from districts of Assam was the high point of day two. The five-kilometer-long procession was carried

out through Jayanagar, Pipaltal, Tiniali, Hukuta chariali of Oil City.

The convention holds significance as it comes months ahead of the Assam elections next year and in the backdrop of AASU supporting the launch of a political party – Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP), floated with the support of Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP).

AASU president Dipankar Nath hosted the flag and the General Secretary of AASU Lurinjyoti Gogoi inaugurated the event.

On the other hand, Dr. Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, Chief Adviser of ASUR, inaugurated the cultural parade of coordination of the programs.

The cultural programme was held at night which was inaugurated by retired teacher Ponaram Borgohain. The cultural programme features performances by artists Rajiv Shadia, Diplina Deka, Ridip Rankit, and Ramen Dan.

The occasion was attended by Rana Pratap Baruah, President of AJYCP, actor Arun Hazarika and artist Diplina Deka who also delivered the speech, along with many others.

It is noteworthy that more than twenty thousand people took part in this cultural procession, which was attended by cultural groups from almost all the ethnic groups of Assam.
