DHEKIAJULI: In a major step towards empowering farmers with updated knowledge and resources, an Agriculture Awareness Meeting was organized on Friday under the Dhekiajuli Legislative Assembly Constituency. The event, which brought together representatives from 17 Gaon Panchayats along with members of Anchalik Panchayats and Zilla Parishads, witnessed the active participation of over 200 elected farmers from across the region.
The gathering aimed to familiarize the farming community with a range of government schemes offered by the Agriculture Department. Sonitpur District Agriculture Officer Narendra Sharma, along with Senior Agriculture Development Officers Indu Pranjal Bora and Ajit Pathak, explained in detail the benefits and procedures under various schemes.
Agriculture Development Officer Pankaj Barman, alongside several officials and staff, lent their expertise to the programme. The meeting was presided over by Dhekiajuli Anchalik Panchayat President Hemanta Deka, with Panbari Zilla Parishad Member Misna Tirki providing assistance. Zilla Parishad Members Kusum Kumari (Amiyapur) and Nirmal Das (Gupteswar), as well as Anchalik Panchayat Member Santosh Das (Majrowmari), were also present. Highlighting the importance of sustainable irrigation, Deka urged farmers to adopt solar-powered pump sets to enhance productivity and reduce costs. Senior Agriculture Development Officer Indu Pranjal Bora ensured smooth coordination of the entire programme, making it a productive platform for knowledge exchange and farmer empowerment.
