LAKHIMPUR: As the countdown begins for the ensuing assembly election, the political parties of the State have started their activities to garner public support in Lakhimpur district.

At a time when these parties have chalked out different strategies to emerge victorious, erosion in the organizational base of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been seen in Dhakuakhana LAC these days. Over 200 members of BJP and Congress party joined the Sanmilita Gana Shakti, Asom (SGSA) on Wednesday in a special event organized on the occasion of the 7th biennial session of the Pub-Dhakuakhana Panchayat Committee of the political party held at freedom fighter Bimala Kanta Doley auditorium.

Attending the programme, SGSA central committee leader Sunil Kumar Pegu criticized the BJP and the State Government alleging massive corruption in various levels of the government machinery under their regime. He appealed to the party members to leave no stone unturned in order to strengthen the organizational base of the SGSA to ensure equal right, equal dignity and equal development, which were the aims and objectives of the party. He reiterated that SGSA was all set to root out present Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley from power in the upcoming assembly election. On the other hand, SGSA general secretaries Raju Khanikar and Hiranya Dutta, Lakhimpur Zila Parishad member Indra Kumar Chunkrang and former general secretary of Takam Mising Porin Kebang Padma Losan Doley took part in the 7th biennial session of the SGSA Pub-Dhakuakhana Panchayat Committee.
