Paban Singh Ghatowar unhappy over poor support from Tinsukia district Congress

TINSUKIA: “The Tinsukia District Congress Committee did not extend support as expected and mandated in this Lok Sabha election,” lamented Paban Singh Ghatowar, the INC candidate from 13 Dibrugarh HPC, former Union Minister and four-time parliamentarian. He was confronted with a volley of questions from mediapersons after addressing an election rally at Bhimpara Lohari Kochari Gaon at Tinsukia on Wednesday. When asked about the conspicuous absence of any district leader, including district president, in the meeting, Ghatowar simply said, “They are silent.”

Addressing a thinly attended rally organized by Rongpuria Mandal Congress in collaboration with Itakhuli Block Congress, Ghatowar lambasted the ruling BJP for its all-out failure in several fronts. Terming the BJP-led government as a ‘deceiving’ one, Ghatowar said that Narendra Modi had squashed the aspirations of the common people to whom he had made many promises prior to the election regarding employment and social security. Alleging that the ruling BJP had pumped enough money to woo voters, Ghatowar urged the voters, “You accept money from them but cast your vote in favour of Congress.”
