GUWAHATI: The Panbari Kendriya Vidyalaya located in Alamganj of Assam's Dhubri district has been announced as a containment zone by the Dhubri district administration on Monday 17 January.

The decision of declaring the school as a containment zone has been made after a number of COVID-19 positive cases found among students, teachers and other school staff.

It is informed that the school will remain as a containment zone for the upcoming seven days i.e. for 1 week and the order will be effective from Monday.

DC (Deputy Commissioner) of Dhubri cum Chairperson of DDMA (Dhubri District Disaster Management Authority) has issued an order that the Panbari Kendriya Vidyalaya will remain close in view of preventing the further spread of covid-19 among students and school authorities.

In the order, the district administration stated that a total of 39 COVID-19 positive cases were detected amongst students and teachers in Panbari Kendriya Vidyalaya as per the test undergone and samples collected on Monday 17 January.

The administration further informed that as an appropriate measure to control the spread of the virus the school premises has been decided to be sealed according to the SOP released by the state government.

The district administration has felt necessary for the immediate seal of the school premises in light of interest and concern over public health said the order.

The order reads that as the people detected as covid positive were present and working in the premises of Panbari Kendriya Vidyalaya, the area is notified as Containment Zone for the upcoming seven days. it added that the order will be effective from Monday 17 January.

As per the order, there will be strict observance over the movement of vehicles and persons as no vehicle or person will be permitted to enter inside or outside the Containment Zone.

Meanwhile, the authorities concerned will be sanitizing the whole area of the school according to the covid protocol.

It may be mentioned that the covid third wave has been increasingly spreading in the Dhubri district as on Monday 17 January a total of 229 covid positive cases were reported in the district.
