Panchayat secretary commits suicide; Body Found Near Ghiladhari River

JAMUGURIHAT: Nilamani Handique, a panchayat secretary posted at Uttar Sootea GP and a resident of Solal Gaon, Sootea committed suicide by hanging with a rope on Monday morning. He was 55. According to information, Nilamani had gone out of the house in the wee hours for a morning walk like other days but didn’t return home. Later on, the family members informed Sootea police about the incident. Meanwhile some people from the Ghiuladharimukh area spotted Handique’s body near a bamboo grove on the bank of the Ghiladhari river. Later on, a judicial magistrate and a team of Sootea police reached the site and sent the body for autopsy. It is to be mentioned here that Nilamani Handique is famous as a dramatist and script writer in the area.
