GOLAGHAT: The guardians of students of various schools in Golaghat district are facing a lot of problems while opening bank account for their children. A directive was issued by the State Government in which it was stated that zero balance bank accounts should be opened for students from class I to Class XII. After that, the District Elementary Education Officer (BEEO) of Golaghat, L. Jarmbusa asked the Block Mission Coordinator to complete the process by November 30. The BEEO informed all the head teachers of the schools, the Circulation Committee, CRCC and Block Accountants about this.

Anil Bora, the head teacher of Kamar Bora Low Primary School, submitted a complaint letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat with signatures of parents of the students. In this letter, it was stated that when the parents of students of Class I to Class VI approached the United Bank of India Kamarbandha branch and Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Shalikihat Branch, the bank officials allegedly refused to open accounts in the names of the students. As a result, the parents of the students had to face a lot of problem in opening bank accounts within the stipulated time. The school authority and parents of the students have demanded the Deputy Commissioner to take necessary action at the earliest.
