DEMOW: A patient, suffering from stomach pain, dysentery, and vomiting, had to be carried by his family members for 3 km before he could take an e-rickshaw to the hospital on Thursday. The incident is from Maharani Gaon in Demow, where the Rupahibam-Nabil connected road is in a poor condition due to which the people of the gaon are suffering. Due to rain in the last few days, mud and water have come up on the road which is around 4 km long, due to which the people are facing serious problems while passing through it.
At a time when the government is talking about development in every sector, the opposite picture is seen in Nabil. A local alleged that though the people have appealed to MLA Sushanta Borgohain many times, no initiative to construct the road has been undertaken. He said that after a heavy shower, it became a headache for the school and college-going students to travel through the road.
Another local alleged that due to the poor condition of the road, patients had to be carried for around 3 km before any transportation could be availed. The locals appealed to the government to construct the road at the earliest.
