GUWAHATI: The latest case of fraud had been reported from the premises of Guwahati Medical Hospital. A truck driver named Abdul Majid and aged 48 years was the victim in this incident when he lost Rs 10000 to a person pretending to be an employee of the organisation.

The victim belonging to a village in the district of Goalpara has his wife admitted in the hospital. According to reports, the victim's wife has been suffering from a prolonged medical condition. She was admitted in the Marwari Hospital for quite some time, which drained them of their savings. When the money he got after mortgaging their land also drained out, they decided to shift to the government hospital.

The fraud had told them that he could arrange for better treatment for the wife Sabirun Nessa aged 28 years. He had approached family members offering the same for Rs 10000 and they made the payment without verifying the details.

Following the complaints of the victim, the Superintendent of the Gauhati Medical College Hospital has registered a complaint regarding the same with the Bhangaharh Police Station which is adjacent to the hospital. The in charge of the police station reportedly informed that proper action and investigations are underway regarding the problem but no one has been apprehended regarding the matter.

In one of the recent cases, a non-medico was found acting as a doctor and prescribing medications to patients admitted to a ward of the hospital. Last year also a similar case of fraud happened when the victims of the fraud lost Rs 18000 in the name of getting a bed in a ward of the hospital.
