DHUBRI: BJP’s Jana Jagaran Sabha was held under the National Unity Campaign on abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A at Dhubri District Library Auditorium on Wednesday.

The meeting began with welcome address and slogan of Ek Rastra, Ek Nissan Ek Sambidhan by Dhubri district unit president Dipak Kumar Saha. Speaking in the meeting, chairman of Duliajan-Numuligarh Pipe-Line Ltd and State senior spokesperson, Rupam Goswami hailed the decision of the Central Government to abrogate the Articles 370 and 35 A and creation of two Union Territories.

“The wait of 70 years finally ended with abrogation of two articles which were a stumbling block on the way of socio-economic development of the region. Now people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh can enjoy all rights as the people of the rest of the country,” Rupam Goswami added.

Addressing the meeting, party’s State vice-president Bimal Oswal also echoed Goswami and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Sah did not allow the sacrifice of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee to go in vain.

“With the abrogation of the articles, not only militants but also families of few political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir lost ground to raise heads in the valley. Now all-round development will be ushered in the valley which could not have been possible due to Articles 370 and 35 A,” Oswal added.

Speaking as the guest speaker, Prof (Rtd) Girindra Nath Goswami said that the instrument of annexation of Jammu and Kashmir with India was full of blunders made by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. It was signed on November 26,1949 but came into effect after inclusion in the Constitution in 1951.

“If the annexation of Jammu and Kashmir had been done by the then Union Home Minister Vallabhai Patel who unified India by annexing 565 princely states, then the blunder of Article 370 and 35 A would have not been done by him. But Nehru sidelined Patel and went ahead to annex J&K with unprecedented conditions. However, abrogation has been rightly done and now India is totally united and integrated,” Goswami added. The meeting was also addressed by BJP legislator from Golokganj, Ashwani Roy Sarkar and other leaders.
