People of Morigaon town appeal to authorities to give lotus pond a facelift

MORIGAON: The people of Morigaon town have always taken pride in the Lotus Pond located in the heart of the town. It is believed that the Lotus Pond was built during the time of the Ahom kings. The Lotus Pond is surrounded by markets, hotels and stalls. Dirty water from the hotels and markets is dumped into this pond due to which the pond has become polluted and dirty. Conscious citizens have expressed serious concern over this. They have lamented that the municipal board has allegedly taken no initiative to clean the pond and restore its lost beauty. They have urged the authorities concerned to give the Lotus Pond a facelift.
