HAFLONG: Violation of the new COVID protocol continued on Friday in Dima Hasao district. On Friday, 23 people tested positive for COVID. Meanwhile, Dr Dipali Barman, Joint Director of the district health department, and Dr Ajay Pal, senior health and medical officer at Haflong Civil Hospital, also tested positive on Friday.

A total of 426 people have been infected with COVID so far in the district. Of these, 177 have recovered and the number of active patients is 226. There are 16 people in home isolation while 41 people are undergoing treatment at Haflong COVID Hospital.

Meanwhile, Dima Hasao Superintendent of Police Jayant Singh gave a strong message to the general public about the new SOP on Friday but on Saturday the opposite picture was seen. Some of the citizens were seen driving even after 2 o'clock breaking the new SOP. However, neither the police nor the administration was seen taking strict action in this case. Even in the evening, some people were seen walking on the streets without any work.

The district health department is worried about the overall situation in Dima Hasao district. Till now the COVID ICU is not yet functional in the district. Minister for Hill Area Development, Jogen Mohan visited the district on Saturday to take stock of the COVID situation in the district.
