BOKAJAN: Inflicting yet another significant blow to the IK Songbijit-led People's Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), the Karbi Anglong police nabbed another hardcore cadre of the outfit in a successful operation in East Karbi Anglong on Sunday.

As per reports, based on specific information, Karbi Anglong police and army launched a joint operation in the general area of Chaukihala and arrested Bonnet Terong aka Denja from a hideout. Denja is reportedly the self-styled sergeant major of PDCK. Several items, including suspected IED, detonators and batteries, were recovered from his possession.

The arrest comes as yet another setback to the Sogbijit-led PDCK which tried to cash on the vacuum created by the disintegration of Karbi People's Liberation Tiger (KPLT) in the hill district of Karbi Anglong. Some of the disgruntled KPLT sided with IK Songbijit to form PDCK in an undisclosed location on October 27, 2016. IK Songbijit, who remained cornered amongst the Bodo people after the BTAD massacre of 2014, was looking for alliances and took it as an opportunity to keep up the armed struggle. However, his plans failed to bear fruit as most of the outfit members were arrested by security forces.

A couple of weeks back, the Karbi Anglong police arrested four cadres of PDCK, including former self-styled army chief and present home secretary Francis Terang aka David Mukrang, self-styled Sergent Naman Rishi Rengma aka Akhevi Rengma and two new recruits from a hideout under Dolamora police station in East Karbi Anglong.
