Person identified as Umashankar Sahani killed in wild jumbo attack under Demow Panidehing mouza

DEMOW: A herd of wild elephants attacked a person who was catching fish on Wednesday night in Gorkha Chapori near the Brahmaputra under Demow Panidehing mouza. The person has been identified as Umashankar Sahani, a resident of Dhaibari Sapekhati Gaon near Demow. According to sources, the herd of wild elephants came in search of food from the Madala forest to the Brahmaputra chapori and suddenly attacked the Gorkha Chapori fish catching camp.

Umashankar Sahani died on the spot and Thanda Panging, a resident of Dalapa Gaon, was injured but he had a lucky escape. Joyram Sahani and Sumit Mala who were also in the fish catching camp somehow managed to save their lives. Nitaipukhuri Police on Thursday morning recovered the body.
