BONGAIGAON: Robbery in a petrol depot has created sensation in Bongaigaon district. The incident took place in Chaprakata area under Bongaigaon PS of Bongaigaon district.

Dacoits looted money from a petrol pump named Barman Auto Agency and physically assaulted the staff of the depot named Nikunja Barman. Talking to media persons, Nikunja Barman said that the incident occurred at about 4.30 am on Wednesday. "A Bolero pick-up van arrived at the petrol depot. They were about eight people in the van. Suddenly they attacked me. Some of them pulled me into the car and some went and locked the door of the room of the watchman. In the car, they beat me and searched my pocket and found Rs 47,549. They took the money and threw me out of the van about 1 km away from the petrol depot," he said. An FIR has been lodged in this regard at Bongaigaon PS. Police have collected CCTV footage and started investigation.
