Bongaigaon: "We will continue our protest against the Citizenship (Amendment), Bill. Before this, we thought that we could protest against this being with the government. Finally, we realized that BJP is adamant to implement this bill and hence we broke the alliance with them. I have resigned from the post of minister of Assam," said Phani Bhusan Choudhury, MLA of Bongaigaon on Thursday.

He arrived at New Bongaigaon on Thursday morning by Rajdhani Express where he was given a warm welcome by AGP activists and the public. He said that now he was free and would fight against this Bill with the people of Assam. "We will never let them pass this Bill," he said. Regarding the upcoming parliamentary election, he said that the AGP would never compromise on this issue.
