Photo exhibition on 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' at Raizmel Bhawan, Nagaon

NAGAON: The two day long photo exhibition-cum-outreach programme by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional office, Guwahati began on Wednesday at Raizmel Bhawan, Phulaguri, Nagaon. The theme of the exhibition is Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and 8 years of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan.

Inaugurating the exhibition Dr Sonashree Brahma, Circle officer and Executive Magistrate of Raha said that this country is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to pay tribute to the martyrs and to aware the masses about their contribution. Talking about the Phulaguri DhewaDr. Brahma said that this place has great significance in the history of Indian freedom struggle movement. She recalled the farmer uprising in the Phulaguri area in October 1861.

Palash Borah, Block Development Officer, Raha speaking on the occasion as the guest of honour recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters of the nation. He urged the people of Phulaguri to remember and follow the ideals of the freedom fighters. He also urged the people of Phulaguri to remember the history of the place and to help preserve the heritage of the place.

Barnali Mahanta, Field Publicity Officer, CBC, Guwahati spoke about the aim and significance of the programme in her welcome address. Hiramani Das, Field Exhibition Officer, CBC, Guwahati, Kamini Das, President, Phulaguri Gaon Panchayat, Pranab Barkakoti, Councilor, Anchalik Panchayat, Prabin Hazarika, President, Phulaguri Dhewa Committee, Pradeep Deka, Secretary, Phulaguri Dhewa Committee were also present in the occasion, stated a press release.
