BISWANATH CHARIALI: A representative meeting of the teachers' organizations of Biswanath district was held on Friday at the Binapani Natya Samaj Hall, Biswanath Chariali to discuss the issue of setting up of the offices of Inspector of Schools (IS) and District Elementary Education Officer (BEEO).

The meeting was chaired by Pradeep Sharma, president of Biswanath Zila Madhyamik Sikshak aru Karmachari Santha, while the objectives were explained by Bidyut Sharma, general secretary of Biswanath District High School Teachers' Association. The meeting was attended by representatives from undivided Sonitpur District Higher Secondary Teachers' Association, Biswanath Zila Madhyamik Sikshak aru Karmachari Santha, Biswanath District High School Teachers' Association, Gohpur District High School Teachers' Association, Biswanath District MV School Teachers' Association and Biswanath District ME School Teachers' Association.

Speakers at the meeting suggested that the offices of the Inspector of Schools (IS) and District Elementary Education Officer (BEEO) should be set up at Biswanath Chariali as it was the headquarter of the district and requested the Government of Assam to undertake necessary steps in this regard. Speaking at the meeting, the representatives of various teachers' organizations said that Biswanath Chariali would be a suitable place for teachers and staff coming from the remote areas of Gohpur, Hawajan, Kalabari and other areas of the district. The meeting decided to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam soon in this regard and also constituted a coordination committee representing various teachers' organizations for this purpose.

The meeting also decided to approach the MLAs of Biswanath, Gohpur and Behali and minister Ranjit Dutta and also the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath to discuss the matter.
