GUWAHATI: On Friday, Guwahati city police detained a group of robbers who had been robbing ATMs around Assam. The detained people have been named Lutfor Rahman, Aminul Haque, Hanifur Rahman, and Saidul Islam.

Sources claimed, the gang robbed customers of thousands of rupees at various ATMs spread out over the state. According to several other sources, the gang primarily targeted ladies and elderly people. Notably, numerous cases have been filed in numerous police stations against the people who have been detained.

The group has more than 10 complaints filed against them in the Dispur police station alone, according to the authorities Earlier, Guwahati police allegedly had to fire upon two suspected thieves due to the city's continuous theft and robbery problems. According to reports, the event happened at Geetanagar, and Mukesh Kumar and Gaurav Paul have been named as the accused.

They were both wounded by bullets after being fired by the cops. According to the accounts, both of the accused attempted to escape from detention, which forced the police to use an open fire. However, they were quickly admitted for treatment at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

The alleged robbers, however, reportedly claimed that they were escorted to the police station for questioning and that the cops opened fire on them on purpose while they were sitting down and not attempting to flee. The injured will be released from the hospital once their treatment is finished, according to GMCH officials. The police commissioner, Diganta Borah, advised everyone to have faith in the authorities due to the city's rising crime rate. To end the crime situation, the department is taking all necessary steps.
