GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired an important meeting with the senior officials of police and administration from across the state.

While the chief minister of Assam mentioned that the police officers of the state should do their duties properly, the Director General of Police of Assam Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta stressed on maintaining the decorum. He went ahead to mention that the personnel found doing duty in an inebriated state will lose their jobs immediately.

He also mentioned that new rules will soon be implemented towards the development of a responsible and responsive police force in the state. The aim is also to keep the police personnel in check and prevent insincerity in work. The top police officer also said that the state machinery is working towards a quick solution to all the problems faced by the men and women in uniform. These include the development of infrastructure for the officials. Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said that the police members should also be friendly towards the public

The DGP mentioned that , "The chief minister immediately arranged the allocation of funds for the construction of 1,000 police residences when he was informed about the requirement. Moreover, there was a detailed discussion with him on various issues such as combating cybercrime, working to provide benefits to people's lives, etc."

"Even people should not be called to the police station in petty matters rather the police personnel would visit their homes to provide services," Bhaskarjoyoti Mahanta added.

"In Assam, we have decided to scrap small cases to lower the burden on the judiciary and police should also work in synchronization with this decision," the DGP said.

Bharkarjyotu Mahanta thanked the Chief Minister for paying attention to the problems faced by the police department. He also assured that the state police will work to their level best towards the upliftment of the state.
