GUWAHATI: Assam police working in coordination with a team of West Bengal police has managed to apprehend the accused of the recent murder case in a hotel located in Guwahati city.

The accused who has been named Faizuddin was apprehended from a hotel located in the Koch Bihar region of West Bengal. According to reports, he was arrested from a hotel called Nirla in Koch Bihar, while he was staying in Room no 102 of the hotel.

A woman named Tazlima Khatoon was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the hotel named Rajhans located in the busy Fancy Bazar region of the state. The body was recovered on January 25 in a room of the hotel with a gag in her mouth. Hotel authorities had opened the room after failing to see the couple for three days.

Faizuddin was the prime accused of the incident as he had checked into the hotel with the dead woman and identified himself as his husband. A resident of Lakhipur in the Goalpara district of Assam, the accused remained absconding since the incident. Reports came to light that they were actually involved in an extramarital affair even after the accused had two wives residing in Goalpara and Tezpur of Assam.

According to reports, the police were able to track him down using his mobile phone which he was using to communicate with one of his wives. Initial reports have revealed that the two had got into a quarrel revolving around money, which ultimately led to Faizuddin murdering Tazlima Khatoon. After which he had fled to the nearby state to escape being caught for his crime.

Meanwhile, a team from Pan Bazar police station is coordinating with West Bengal Police to bring the accused back to Guwahati for the legal proceedings in what is being hailed as a success of the Assam Police for tracking down the accused.
