Politicians, businessmen come forward to help the poor at Donkamukam

Donkamukam: Daily wage earners and the poorer section of society are facing problems due to the ongoing lockdown to prevent the spread of the pandemic COVID-19. In this hour of crisis, politicians, businessmen, employees, pensioners and social workers have come forward to help the poor and distressed.

Most of the constituencies under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) are receiving relief package and 11,990 families of no. 6 Bithung Rengthama MAC also received aid on Thursday when 5 kg rice, mustard oil 1/2 litre, dal 1 kg, 1 packet of salt, potatoes 2 kg and soap were given to each family.

Besides, JE of PWD Road, Alinson Marak and fourth grade employee Anjala Marak lent their support to the needy people in Satgaon village areas. On the other hand, on Thursday, people thronged the SBI Donkamukam branch, Assam Gramin Vikas Bank (AGVB) Donkamukam Branch and AGVB Satgaon banch to draw the government-allotted Rs 1,000. Meanwhile, Donkamukam Municipal Board and bazaar committees of Kheroni, Satgaon, Tumpreng and Kollonga are helping the administration by strictly monitoring the sale of essential commodities so that prices are not hiked by wholesalers.
