A CORRESPONDENT

LAKHIMPUR: A three-year-old lovely little kid intensely hopes to walk like the others. But he cannot do so due to his hard luck. So, he always urges others, with his natural tone, to make him walk well, to cure him well as he has to go to school. Jumon Das, son of Deba Das and Subhadra Das, permanent resident of No.1 Parghat village, under Dhakuakhana Legislative Assembly constituency of Lakhimpur district, has spent his days like that because of his disability to walk and sit without anyone’s help. It is due to a complex health problems of the kid’s foot nerve and bone, symptoms of which surfaced when he was six months old. He was born naturally without any congenital defect and the other parts of his body and brains have also developed naturally without any problem. At present, he has shown a strong memory with sharp brain regarding which he has been taught.

Though the kid has been under medical treatment since a long time, his health problem has not improved yet. He was born in a family that had suffered a lot by losing their residential houses and immovable properties several times due to massive erosion caused by Korha river. In the meantime, his father, who is a driver by profession, sold everything he had in order to treat his son at Assam Medical College and Hospital based at Dibrugarh, and other private sector hospitals in the city. But those attempts of treatment could not cure the kid till date as per information provided by his father.

The attending doctors, meanwhile, advised Deba Das, the father of the kid, to take him out of Assam to undergo medical treatment. But he, who is living and running his family hand to mouth with his little earning, is still unable to follow the doctors’ advice being prevented by severe pecuniary difficulties. So, finding no other way, the father has earnestly requested financial help from Chief Minister, Health Minister of the State government and Dhakuakhana MLA cum Minister Naba Kumar Doley for treatment of his son, which is the only hope of their family at present. In this regard, he has drawn attention of the Scheduled Caste Development Board and Scheduled Caste Students Unions etc. Any intending person can extend financial contribution to help the little kid. The bank account details of his mother Subhadra Das is 0633010603102, IFSC-IITRT0GI MG9I, Ghilamora Branch, United Bank of India.
