Power cut after storm irks Dibrugarh residents

DIBRUGARH: The residents of Dibrugarh are facing inconvenience since Tuesday night after electricity was disrupted in many areas after a heavy storm lashed the town. "There is no power in our area since early morning. We have no water in our tank, we cannot take bath. The whole area was under darkness. The electricity department is not responding to our calls," alleged a resident.

Meanwhile, the power department employees are working in many areas to restore electricity. Due to the storm many trees have fallen on the power lines, disrupting electricity.

"Since morning there is no power in our area. We are having a tough time due to scarcity of water. Children are facing problems due to excessive heat. It seems that we are living in the stone age without water and electricity," said Vikash Das, a resident of Dibrugarh. Many people went to the ASEB office to lodge complaints for restoration of electricity in their localities. "Our employees are working to restore electricity. We have received multiple complaints. We have less manpower so it is tough for us to work," said an employee of APDCL.
