GOALPARA: Pradip Timung, senior officer of Assam Civil Service, on Monday took charge as the new District Commissioner of Goalpara district. He was appointed after his predecessor Khanindra Choudhury was transferred to Dispur as the Secretary to the Chief Minister of Assam.
Timung has taken charge at the time when several eviction drives in government and forest department lands have just been completed and the district has been at the centre of politics for many.
While interacting with the mediapersons on Tuesday, the new DC appealed to people and the journalists in particular to cooperate with the district administration for the peaceful environment and rapid development of the district.
He also sought cooperation in stopping rumours and unnecessary creation of sensation which he said left devastating results in the society.
Nabajeet Pathak, ADC, Nabaneet Mahanta, SP, and many other officers were present at his press address on Tuesday. Udit Narayan Kalita, President, and Biswajit Das, Secretary, represented the district journalists association in the press meet where other media organizations were also present.
