KOKRAJHAR: The Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering (PHE), Kokrajhar Division-II, got its own office building at Kajalgaon, the district headquarter of Chirang after running their office from a rented house in Basugaon town since the last 15 years.

The Chief Executive Member (CEM), BTC, on Friday inaugurated the new office building in the presence of Dr. Nilut Swargiary, EM, BTC for PHE, I &PR and H &T, Ranjit Kumar Basumatary, EM, BTC for Forest and Land & Revenue, Director, PHE department, Kandarpa Kumar Deka and officers from different departments and media persons.

The new office building was built at a cost of Rs.1,35,83,900 under BTC- SOPD for the years 2018-19 and 2019-20 and is G+1 design with one conference hall, 10 rooms for officers and staff. Besides the Executive Engineer's office in the ground floor, in the first floor there will be the office of the Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE, Kokrajhar Sub-Division-II.

In his address to the media, CEM Boro said that he was very happy that the building would open up new space to meet the increasing demand of PHE. "The people of the northern part of BTR are struggling for drinking water since long. In this regard, with an aim of providing potable drinking water to them, our BTR government has decided to take up various developmental schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). So many important projects are being implemented by the PHE department," he said.

He further hoped that with the functioning of the office at the district headquarter, many problems of the public related to drinking water issues would be solved soon. He also announced about forming development boards for all communities of BTR along with giving maximum priority on education and agricultural sectors.
