Pre-Republic Day parade camp concludes in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The prestigious Pre-Republic Day parade camp organized at Central Institute of Technology,(CIT), Kokrajhar, Assam by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, New Delhi and NSS Regional Directorate, Guwahati concluded on Wednesday with a colourful function.

In the valedictory function, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, cabinet minister, Government of Assam, graced the function as chief guest. M Ramakrishna, Assistant Programme Advisor, NSS, Camp Director RD New Delhi, Regional Director- Regional Directorate, Hyderabad was present as special guest. Sagar Mondal, ASO Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, New Delhi was present as special invitee in the valedictory function. C Brahma, Registrar, CIT, Kokrajhar along with Deans and faculty members were all present in the function.

Minister Urkao Gwra Brahma said that this kind of activity needed to be conducted at regular intervals as this would help the local students to interact with the other students of various places of the country. He emphasized that the students from this place had a problem of mingling with others so students needed exposure which the NSS had the ability to provide. He said that voluntary service was a part and partial of welfare state. He expressed happiness that pre-Republic Day camp was organized in CIT Kokrajhar which will give positive message to the region.

M Ramakrishna said that NSS provided equal opportunity to the volunteers and provide ample scope to meet each other. He said that every year five Regional Directorates of NSS (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India) organized this kind of pre-Republic Day. The main objective of the Pre-Republic Day parade camp is to choose 40 volunteers from each 5 Regional Directorates of NSS take part in the NSS REPUBLIC DAY (RD) CAMP in the national capital which is organized from January 1 to January 31 every year. The aim is to take part in the January 26, 2022 Republic Day parade in New Delhi. A total of 200 NSS volunteers are selected from all the 5 NSS Regions of the country (40 volunteers from each region) to participate in pre-Republic Day camp.

JD Herembeswar Basumatary, NSS Programme Coordinator of CIT, Kokrajhar expressed his sincere thanks to the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and NSS Regional Directorate Guwahati for allowing CIT Kokrajhar to host the event from October 25, 2021 till November 3, 2021. This kind of activity will definitely bring positive mindset in the minds of the young students and will broaden their outlook, he said.
