KOKRAJHAR: Massive preparations are going on in full swing at Jougalu Fwthar, Dhaoliguri in Kokrajhar for holding the 3rd triennial conference of United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) with three day-long programmes scheduled to be held from November 11 to November 13.
The president of the UPPL and CEM of BTC Pramod Boro on Monday morning visited the venue of the conference and reviewed the progress of preparations. On Sunday, a meeting of the reception committee was held with Lawrence Islary, MLA and president of the Reception Committee in the chair. He took the progress report from different sub-committees.
The working president of the UPPL and Rajya Sabha MP, Rwngwra Narzary, MLAs- Jiron Basumatary and Jayanta Basumatary, BTC EM Wilson Hasda visited Jougalu Fwthar to take stock of preparations of the conference on Saturday last. The meeting of the reception committee reviewed the ongoing preparation and arrangements of the conference.
Meanwhile, party workers and office bearers of different sub committees were seen busy in their respective preparation works and arrangements in the conference venue. The delegate hall, dining hall, exhibition centre are progressing fast.
Talking to this reporter, the president of the reception committee and MLA Lawrence Islary said over 60 pc works were completed and remaining works are going on in a war-footing manner. He said they expected at least 6,000 delegates from 10 district committees and 40 block committees of UPPL in the region, besides SC cell, Minority cell, Farmers' cell, Youth and Women wings to participate. He also said the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, national president of BJP JP Nadda will grace the occasion along with other high profile guests.
