Boko: Villagers, Kamrup district Garo National Council (GNC) and other regional organizations will host the 4th edition of Drone, Sree and Dilma River Festival in the first week of 2020 at Ukium in Lower Assam’s Kamrup district.

The festival was held in 2016 with the full support of ‘Eri Fed’, a Northeast India based NGO, and GNC. Chandan Keshab, president of Eri Fed, said that the Drone-Sree-Dilma River Festival in 2016 had turned out to be a huge success with hundreds of visitors.

“This year, various adventure sports, traditional food festivals, and traditional fashion show competitions are the main attractions of the festival,” said Suneet P. Marak, secretary of the newly-formed river festival committee. He also said that as this area was very remote and situated along the Assam-Meghalaya border, people from Meghalaya also took part in the festival. The festival committee was formed on Thursday at Ukium Cultural Hall. The hall was opened today by Golap Medhi, a member of Kamrup Zilla Parishad, in the presence of thousands of local villagers. The hall was constructed with the Border Area Development Fund of Assam in the year of 2018-19 with Rs 25 lakh.
