Preparation on for Ali-Aye-Ligang festival of Mising community

LAKHIMPUR: Ali-Aye-Ligang, the spring festival of the Mising community, associated with agriculture, especially with the beginning of the Ahu paddy cultivation, will be celebrated across Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts with festive tradition.

Various celebration committees in both districts have undertaken brisk preparation for the celebration of the festival to mark the onset of sowing seeds. The festival will be celebrated at Kathalguri under Gogamukh on February 29. On this occasion, a strong celebration committee was constituted in a public meeting with Mahendra Regan in the chair. In connection with the event, the celebration committee will publish a souvenir titled Ayunsiri, informed Diilip Kaman, the president of the editorial board.

Write-ups, such as articles, short stories and poetry on the Mising culture, tradition and literature have been sought.
