Preparation underway to conduct 8th annual session of UBPO

LAKHIMPUR: The 8th annual session of the Central Committee of UBPO (United Bodo People's Organization), one of the most prominent organizations, that signed the BTR Accord, will be held at Langhin in Karbi Anglong district in the month of February of the upcoming year.

The organization has undertaken due preparation in order to conduct the event successfully. As part of such preparation, the organization constituted the organizing committee of the event on Saturday in a public meeting. In this regard, UBPO president Manoranjan Basumatari informed that the meeting was held in Langhin Tiniali Bibah Bhawan wherein UBPO president Manoranjan Basumatari, general secretary Pitambar Brahma, Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) executive member, Anil Basumatari, Amio Basumatari, Binod Basumatari, Phulani along with leading citizens were present. The meeting was convened by Karbi Anglong district unit of UBPO and it commenced with the district president Badal Mussahari in the chair while general secretary Buddheswar Basumatari explained the objective of the programme. Manoranjan Basumatari further informed that the 8th session of the organization would be held with unique programmes by organizing literary and sports competitions among the students and youths.

In the public meeting, the organizing committee was formed with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council executive member Torendra Brahma as president, Ex-BLT Welfare Council president Shantanu Basumatari as working president, Anil Basumatari, Uttam Chandra Brahma, Kamal Brahma, Kansai Basumatari, Dimbor Mohela as vice-presidents. In addition, a souvenir editorial board was also formed with Dr. Dhananjay Narjary as president and Arunjay Basumatari as chief editor. Many other sub-committees were also formed in the same meeting.
