Primary School in Tinsukia Remains Closed for 4 Months Owing to Lack of Teachers

TINSUKIA: Although a large number of teachers have been appointed recently, one particular school located in the Tinsukia constituency has remained closed for over four months now because of the lack of teachers.

According to the local people, the Lakhipathar Bon Prarthamik Vidyalaya has been ignored by the education department for a very long time. So much so that it has remained closed for the past several months. The reason for the same was cited as the complete lack of teachers. Also, the school has seen a complete inadequacy of necessary infrastructure.

They also informed that the school was established in 1970 under the efforts of several concerned persons of the region. It was being managed by the Digboi Forest Division. In 2002 the management was handed over to the Tinsukia District Hapjan Education Division.

One teacher was appointed to the school in question in the month of September 2022. But after about three months of service, this teacher too applied for a transfer, leaving the school without teachers yet again. Forcing the students of the poor families of the region to walk about 5-6 kilometres to the nearest school for their education, which has become very risky during the hot summers.

The children and senior citizens of the state are worst affected by the ongoing heat wave. Multiple female students of the Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed High School located in Chuwa Guri fainted due to extreme heat. The incident took place during the morning prayers on Saturday. One of the affected students was initially shifted to the Biswanath Ghat Primary Health Centre and later moved to the Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital for better medical care.

All the students have been mentioned to be out of any serious problem according to the doctors. But the incident triggered fear among the parents of the school.
