Primary School Teacher in Assam Commits Suicide over Unable to Use the RIIMS App
Assam: The headmaster of a primary school in Demow in Assam's Sivasagar district allegedly committed suicide after he was unable to use a government-prescribed mobile application.
The deceased teacher who committed suicide due to tragic circumstances has been identified as Kali Prasad Chetia of Demow's Lakhimipathar Primary School.
He is alleged to have killed himself in one of the school's classrooms by hanging himself.
The state government had previously issued an order mandating that all educators download and use the RIIMS App. The artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology aids in teacher attendance management systems as well as database upkeep for students and instructors.
Teachers around the state were asked to install the RIIMS Application, The SDMIS (Students' Database Management Information System) and TDMIS (Teachers' Database Management Information System), as well as AI (artificial intelligence)-based attendance tracking, would all be feasible with this application.
Earlier, the Sadou Asam Sanmilita Siksha Mancha, an umbrella group of ten teachers' organisations, has expressed strong opposition to the State Government's recent directive ordering all teachers to install the RIIMS mobile app as soon as possible or face having their salaries withheld.
According to a new government directive, teachers' paychecks will be delayed unless they install the RIIMS mobile app. The Sadou Asam Sanmilita Siksha Mancha was enraged by this decision and addressed a memorandum to the Chief Secretary, Education Department, Government of Assam. All government and provincialized school instructors have already been instructed to download the RIIMS software to their phones.
SDMIS (Students' Database Management Information System) and TDMIS (Teachers' Database Management Information System), as well as AI-based attendance monitoring, would all be available on a single platform through the RIIMS application. Several teacher organisations expressed opposition to the initiative, stating that it would jeopardise their privacy.
