Prime Suspect in Assam’s Biggest Cyber Fraud Cases, Sariful Islam Arrested

Morigaon: Morigaon Police has arrested notorious cyber crime mastermind Sariful Islam from Kolkata after a manhunt lasting over two and a half years. The accused had been absconding across 12–13 states in India, evading capture while allegedly looting crores of rupees through online fraud.

Police said Sariful Islam is wanted in numerous cyber crime cases registered in several police stations across Assam. So far, Morigaon Police has arrested 281 cyber fraudsters, but Islam had remained their most wanted suspect.

Investigations revealed that he operated an extensive network of fraudsters, targeting victims across the country. Acting on a tip-off, a team from Morigaon Police tracked him down in Kolkata, where he had been living under the radar. Officials confirmed that he will be brought back to Assam for further legal proceedings.
