Guwahati: Hollywood's "it" couple Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have made donations for the Assam flood victims and have also urged their fans to do so. In fact, the couple has also shared some links on their social media where fans can make their donations.

"While we are all still dealing with the effects of the global pandemic, the Indian state of Assam has been grappling with another major crisis. It has been devastated by floods triggered by heavy monsoon showers affecting the lives of millions. The impact on life and land/property is unimaginable. The rapidly rising water level has also flooded the Kaziranga National Park, one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in the world," wrote Priyanka in a tweet, bringing attention to the recurring problem of floods in the state.

"They need our attention and support. I'm sharing details of a few credible organizations that are doing some good work on the ground in Assam, and Nick and I have made a donation to each. Let us support them so they can continue to help those in need. #Assamfloods #PrayForAssam #AssamNeedsHelp @PRIYANKACHOPRA," 'Piggyschops' further added. Priyanka's hubby Nick, a member of the pop-rock trio The Jonas Brothers, also shared the same message on his social media. The duo also shared details of Action Aid and Rapid Response, two organizations that are carrying out relief operations by those affected by the deluge.

It needs mention here that Priyanka's connection with Assam runs deep as at one point she had been chosen as the face of Assam tourism's 'Awesome Assam' campaign. She had also featured in several advertisements related to the widely-publicized campaign. On several occasions, she was also seen garbed in Assam's traditional mekhela chadar and the gamusa.

Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick have been supporting several charities. Recently, they also made donations to fight the coronavirus pandemic. In May, they also pledged their support towards the Black Lives Matter movement that fights for the rights of colored persons in Western countries.
