Priyanka Gandhi Vadra cites Zubeen Garg's song 'politics nokoriba bondhu' on BJPs fake promises

JORHAT: Taking a jibe at the Bhartiya Janata Party BJP, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated that the BJP before coming to power promised employment, development and assured that the draconian Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 will not be implemented, however, the party has deceived the people of Assam.

"The party promised to provide jobs to the youth of the state whereas, nothing has been done for the young brigade. They have degraded the youth by promising them of giving 25 lakhs jobs, but today graduates and master degree holders are sitting unemployed," said Vadra.

Citing the SI scam and PNRD scam, Vadra said that the future of lakhs of youths has been put at stake by the BJP Government.

Speaking about the CAA Vadra said, "When the people of Assam protested against the CAA, then through Zubeen Garg's song the saffron party was said, 'politics nokoriba bondhu' (don't do politics, my friend) but sadly the party has done politics in each and everything which has put a halt on the development of the state,"

While speaking about the PM's speech in Chabua where he said about the 'toolkit issue' and accused the Congress party of conspiring to defame Assam's tea, she alleged that the PM is sad about a tweet by a 22-year- old woman but not for the flood-ravaged people of Assam.

"The PM very seriously said that he was very sad about a recent development. I thought he would speak about Assam's development or how BJP worked in Assam. But I was astound to hear that the PM was talking about a tweet by a 22-year-old woman (Disha Ravi). He said Congress conspired to defame and finish the tea industry of Assam. He was also sad about Congress mistakenly putting two wrong pictures of tea garden on social media," Vadra said.

She further questioned PM Modi on why he was not sad for the people affected by the flood and the anti-CAA movement, in which five youths were killed.

Taking a swipe at the PM's famous statement of "double engined" government, Vadra said that the State has two Chief Ministers, in an apparent reference to state cabinet minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

"The PM said you have a double-engine government but Assam has two CMs. I don't know which fuel runs which engine. The Assam government is not run in Assam... God save you!" she added.

Accusing the BJP government of making fake promises the Congress leader said that the ruling government has cheated all segments of the society, including youths, farmers and tea garden workers.
