SILCHAR: As part of the ongoing Poshan Maah celebrations, a valedictory programme was held at Fulertol under Lakhipur Constituency in Cachar district. On this occasion a programme was organised by the Cachar district administration in collaboration with social welfare & Health Department on Thursday.

As the Prime Minister has included the village of Dakshin Fulertol (Chhanbari) in the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, the closing ceremony of the of Poshan Maah was organized at Fulertol.

MLA , Lakhipur, Kaushik Rai graced the occasion as the chief guest in presence of representative of MP, Silchar, Pulak Das, District Development Commissioner Cachar, Rajib Roy and District Social welfare Officer, Cachar, Saswati Som. All the dignitaries were felicitated with traditional gamocha.

While addressing the gathering MLA Kaushik Rai said, "Social Welfare Department observes "Nutrition Month" in the month of September every year . The Department of Child Development conducts physical examinations of children at various Anganwadi Centers and measures their nutrition."

He stated that the problems faced by the Anganwadi center of Chanvari Village of Fulertol village regarding road, water, education etc would be solved within a very short period of time with the allocation of funds under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana. MLA Rai further stated that if the funds allocated for the development of this village are not sufficient, then the MLA promised to develop the village in phases by allocating funds from the Area Development Fund. He said 100 Anganwadi centers would be set up in Lakhipur as model Anganwadi centers and for this an amount of rupees 25 lakh rupees each has been allocated for the construction of the centers, stated a press release.
