TEZPUR: A group of progressive farm women guided by L Zimba, Agronomist-cum- Project Director Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur on December 8, as a part of the inter-State exposure visit programme under ATMA.

Dr Arifa Momtaz Begum, in-charge Head, KVK, Sonitpur, welcomed the group and emphasized value addition of agricultural produce. Dr Bhrigu Kumar Neog, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science), Sanjukta Saikia, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), Angana Sarmah, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), Dr. Namita Dutta, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science), Dr Roji Chutia, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) from KVK, Sonitpur interacted with farm women in different agricultural technologies.

The farm women showed interest in floriculture, potato cultivation, mushroom cultivation and value addition. They visited the demonstration units of KVK, Sonitpur, including vermicompost unit, Azolla unit, potato cultivation under net house, horticultural model nursery, bamboo nursery, goatery unit and IFS. The group also visited Kanyaka Bahumukhi Pam, situated at Jamugurihaat and Defence Research Laboratory at Tezpur (DRL).
