Prohibitory order imposed in Cachar district

SILCHAR: Based on inputs that some organizations were planning to bring out rallies demanding arrest of Nupur Sarma and Naveen Jindal, Cachar administration has clamped Sec 144 CrPC and banned all sorts of public gatherings. Huge force was deployed by Cachar police in Kalain area in Katigorah following some inputs that PFI would reportedly arrange a protest rally in Kalain without any prior public announcement.

On Saturday, too, huge police force was deployed in Sonai area as Assam Owaisi Fans Club called for a protest rally. SP Ramandeep Kaur took initiative to convince the organizsers not to bring out any rally in the main road. Later, a small meeting was held with insignificant presence. Deepak Jidung, Additional Deputy Commissioner said, the administration had information that mass rallies and protests were being organized and some persons might resort to anti-social activities leading to law-and-order situation. On the basis of these information, the administration decided to clamp Sec 144 CrPC banning all sorts of gatherings.
