LAKHIMPUR: In view of maintaining public peace, security and tranquillity, to ensure safety to human life and health, to check the adverse impact of high decibel fire-crackers upon the environment along with the subversive activities apprehended to be indulged in by antisocial elements as well as militant outfit by taking advantage of the high decibel fire crackers causing danger to life and security of public at large during the upcoming Diwali, Kali Puja festivals, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur Sumit Sattawan has promulgated prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC in the district. Through the order issued vide No. LMJ. 12/2022, the District Magistrate has prohibited the manufacture, sale or use of fire crackers generating noise level exceeding 125 dB(Al) or 145 dB(C) at 4 metres distance from the points of bursting, display and throwing of fire- crackers, bombs etc. in public places and on running and stationary vehicles as well as animals, bursting crackers between 10.00pm and 6.00am as per judgement of the Supreme Court on July 18, 2005), use of fire-crackers in and around sensitive zone like hospitals, court premises, religious places etc. and usage, sale and possession of firecrackers of foreign origin.

This order has come into force across the district with immediate effect and will remain in force till the Deepawali, Kali Puja festival are over. Any violation of this order shall be punishable under provision of section 188 IPC and under the relevant provision of law.
