DHUBRI: Dhubri Superintendent of Police Abhijit Gaurav Dilip, while addressing the local media persons here at his office premises, categorically said that under the new Cattle Prevention Act, property of cattle smugglers would be attached and four such cases being prepared for such action by the Dhubri police.

While clarifying the police stand against cattle smugglers, the SP said that in the coming days' police would go all out to prevent cattle smuggling in the district and no one found to be involved would be spared.

"In Dhubri district, police has been able to stop cattle smuggling to 99% and making a concerted effort to wipe out it totally in coming days", SP Abhijit Gaurav Dilip claimed.

Replying to an incident that happened in the Dhubri Court wherein College Police Outpost in-charge, Bhaskar Jyoti Nath, who allegedly intimidated the lawyers while producing in the court on Thursday, SP said the incident was an unfortunate and inquiry being done into it and police would take further steps once the enquiry report submitted.

In a separate press meet, College Nagar Police Outpost in-charge, Bhaskar Jyoti Nath said that he was manhandled by a large group of lawyers and he was there in the middle and finding no way out, he took out a service revolver in his self-defence.

The incident on the premises of the Dhubri court between lawyers and College Nagar Police Outpost in-charge, Bhaskar Jyoti Nath took place as police also had arrested advocate, Samiul Hoque Ansari, who according to lawyers, was arrested in a false case.

According to lawyers, advocate Ansari went to College Nagar Police Outpost to get one minor released, who was brought to the police station along with the four cattle smugglers.

Later the minor was released and advocate Ansari Nagar was booked, lawyers alleged.

However, Ansari was released on bail in the late evening on Thursday, while four other cattle smugglers were sent to judicial custody.
