Protest against alleged murder of woman in Barpeta district

BARPETA: The people of Banglipara on Monday came out to protest against the suspicious death of a newly-wedded woman named Jerifa Khatun. The protestors demanded the capital punishment of the person involved in Jerifa's alleged murder. It may be mentioned that Jerifa was found hanged to death on August 4 at her in-laws' house. Jerifa, a resident of Kumullipara, got married to one Baharul Islam of Banglipara in Jania of the Barpeta district almost 10 months ago. The family members of Jerifa said that Baharul was involved in an illicit relationship with a relative and when Jerifa came to know about it, she was murdered.
