Boko: Villagers of Kaithpara village took out a protest rally with their electricity bills and electricity measuring devices against the Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) at Kaithpara village on Tuesday. One month before in Kaithpara village, APDCL had distributed electricity measuring devices to every household under Soubhagya scheme.

But on Monday, APDCL, Boko had distributed electricity bills in Kaithpara where many villagers had no electricity connection. They only have the device which has not been installed.

Dipamoni Das, a villager, said that they did not get any electricity connection, only the electrical measuring device. But Boko APDCL office sent them electricity bills. She warned the State Power Minister Tapan Kumar Gogoi not to play games with the poor people of Assam. Subhash Rabha blamed Boko APDCL officials as the Boko APDCL office sent his electricity bill without reading the meter. He paid November month’s bill of Rs 221 but December month’s bill was Rs 1,100. An angry Subhash alleged that the Boko APDCL office was corrupt.
