NAMRUP: The Naharkatiya constituency based Naharkatiya, Namrup and Sasoni Regional Students' Unions, under the direction of Dibrugarh District Students' Union, on Wednesday staged protest in the Naharkatiya circle office premises to demand solution of various problems of the constituency.
After the protest, the three units separately handed over memorandum to MLA Taranga Gogoi through the Circle Officer. They demanded the setting up of a college in Sasoni and provision of 24-hour medical service in a 30-bed hospital, besides solution of other problems of the Sasoni regional area.
The Naharkatiya Regional Students' Union demanded that the Naharkatiya subdivision be made operational for all emergency purposes as soon as possible and the development of infrastructure of schools in Naharkatiya. The Namrup regional students' union demanded to uproot the syndicate of urea black marketing and check on illegal activities going on in various parts of Namrup.
