Protests continued by Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti over Golaghat Engineering College losing AICTE recognition

GOLAGHAT: On Friday Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) of Golaghat district committee staged three-hour sit in near the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding immediate steps in favour of AICTE recognition to Golaghat Engineering College. More than two hundred activists of the organisation shouted various slogans against the government as well as the Education Department of Assam.

In this regard, the president and secretary of the organization Satyabrata Saikia, Akash Dao and Rupam Gogoi and Jyotisman Bora respectively said, “This happened only because of alleged ignorance of the BJP-led State government.” They threatened the government to do the needful in due time otherwise the organisation will carry out a massive protest against the government.

They demanded the immediate appointment of permanent principal, teachers and other faculties and develop the infrastructure of the college. Later, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat. Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) of Golaghat district committee carried out a protest in front of the Golaghat Engineering College. In the protest, the students of GEC took part. AJYCP central committee joint secretary Jitul Rajkhowa, president and secretary of Golaghat district committee Abdul Hasim and Nikunja Medhi, joint secretary Mridul Phukan, vice president Babul Dutta were also present.
