Quiz competition held on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti

LAKHIMPUR: The people of Lakhimpur commemorated Mahatma Gandhi across the district on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti on Friday. On this occasion, a quiz competition was held in Lakhimpur Commerce College. To mark the 151th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, a special programme was also organized in the college wherein students and teachers were present. The programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Mahatma Gnadhi by Principal Gopal Kumar Chetry, who also chaired the meeting which was held for that occasion. The objective of the meeting was explained by Tilak Chandra Deka, Head of the Department of Assamese, Lakhimpur Commerce College. The meeting was also attended by Vice-Principal Mahesh Ch. Bhagawati and senior teacher Dr GN Sarma.

The quiz competition, exclusively on Mahatma Gandhi, was conducted by professor Sazzad Hussain, the in-charge of the students' union and Head of the Department of English. One round of the quiz was also conducted by Mridushmita Hazarika, the assistant professor of Assamese Department of the college. An essay competition for the students was also organized on the occasion.
